At Faith Baptist we have a modern and accessible facility that is able to meet a variety of needs among those looking for a place to participate in church life or for the benefit of the wider community through rentals and building use. Our facility has a paved parking lot, coverd drop-off area at the front doors, and is single-level with wide doorways and wheelchair accessible washrooms. Our Sanctuary (worship space) chairs can be re-configured to make space as needed. Wherever possible our hope is to make our church a welcoming place and one that can accommodate people in a wide variety of situations.

At present this page is focused on providing information on our newly-installed assistive hearing system to improve accessibility for people experiencing hearing loss. Thanks to a 2021 Federal government grant we have installed a Phonak Roger basestation in our main auditorium and have a number of receivers available to work with it. This system supports those with hearing loss through three different options.

1) Those with compatible hearing aids or cochlear implants can connect directly to the assistive hearing system. The Roger WallPilot unit installed in the main entrance to our Sanctuary connects compatible devices with the assistive hearing system simply by passing within 2m of that device. Your hearing aid may need to be configured or could require an add-on module in order to be used in this way. Your audiologist should be able to assist you. You can direct them to this page which has more technical information on our system below, or contact our church office any time.

2) Anyone with a hearing aid that contains a T-Coil can connect to the assistive hearing system by wearing one of our Roger Neckloop receivers. These work best when worn around your neck. The receiver has its own volume control. Here is a short video on how to wear and use the neck loops.

3) The neck loop receivers can also be plugged in to any set of headphones that have a normal 3.5mm headphone jack. If you have some hearing challenges but don’t have a hearing aid or other device you may benefit from the option to listen through headphones. We have basic headphones available for all our neck loop units, but you can chose to bring your own headphones for sanitary reasons or to have access to headphones with more features, such as noise-cancellation, or if you prefer over-ear headphones. Headphone users may also find that sitting away from the centre of the room (where sound from the main speaker is loudest) is helpful so that the sound from the room and sound from the headphones aren’t in as much competition.
